Week-long exhibition in Brussels
This autumn Arts Council England is hosting a week-long exhibition at the European Parliament in Brussels with the support of Culture Action Europe and East Midlands Regional Development Agency European Office.
The exhibition has two key objectives: to demonstrate the positive impact European and other partner investment has had in the region in creating a world class arts infrastructure and to lobby key MEPs on how that infrastructure has helped to win the bid to host the World Event for Young Artists in 2012 and what future resources may be needed.
Over £130 million has been invested into the arts infrastructure in the East Midlands, which has helped to secure our bid to host the first World Event for Young Artists in 2012 – (in partnership with the Biennale of young artists from Europe and the Mediterranean – BJCEM and the Cultural Olympiad).
This event focuses on the creative talents of young people from over 200 countries around the world and it will be the first time it has been hosted in a northern European country. We are also hosting a VIP reception which will enable us to talk directly to key MEPs who we hope will be able to see the huge benefits of the World Event and lend support via the various culture, young peoples and citizenship committees.
