Fringe 2019.jpg

Be part of one of the world's largest biennial festivals of contemporary arts happening in Nottingham!

New Collectives 2019 is the first ever UKYA City Takeover Fringe event, which has a core vision to support the new wave of creative talent.

We are looking for one collective from each of UKYA’s partner universities - De Montfort University, Nottingham Trent University, University of Derby and University of Lincoln. Collectives can be made up of current students from any art form, working together to propose a new collective action. The OPEN CALL is open between 29th October -12th November, during this time you can submit your proposal. Selected collectives will work with Jade and UKYA between November and February to plan, produce and deliver their events. At the end of the process, the New Collectives will reflect in conversation with The White Pube - “the world’s freshest, funniest art critics’’ (DAZED).

You will need to create a response to the words Occupation and Absence. The word Absence could be incorporated by identifying any activities or perspectives that may be absent or underdeveloped in your creative communities. Linking in the theme Occupation to the concept of a UKYA City Takeover, your collective action could: take over an already existing space; be an activity in which people engage with or could connect itself to social and political issues.

Jade Foster, UKYA Emerging Producer will lead on the development of New Collectives 2019. She will support the student groups in identifying venues as well as the delivery of high quality content and activities. UKYA will promote and share the project across its social media sites, including 12k followers with an average annual reach of over 1M. There will be opportunities for the student groups to come together and share their practice and learning as well as feed into the UKYA New Collectives impact study.
