Nottingham Refugee Week
Avo Kaprealian Film Screening
We are delighted to bring the work of Avo Kaprealian to the UK for Nottingham Refugee Week.
Supported by UK Young Artists in partnership with Nottingham Contemporary there will be a special screening of Houses Without Doors (2016) by artist and filmmaker Avo Kaprealian (who was born in Aleppo in 1986 to an Armenian family). The film portrays the changes in the life of an Armenian family on Aleppo’s frontline in Al Midan, an area that brought shelter to the persecuted Armenians 100 years ago, and today to many displaced Syrians. This work was shown as part of Mediterranea 18 (young artists biennale) in Albania in May and we are delighted that UK audiences get a chance to see this work as part of this wonderful event. So UKYA are urging everyone from near and far to support and see this film which will be screened at the launch of Nottingham Refugee Week on Saturday 17 June. Alongside this there will be many free family activities, live music, world food, drumming workshops, spoken word performances, film screenings and more!
Saturday 17 June, 1-4pm at Nottingham Contemporary
This is a free event
We look forward to seeing you there!
