Stuart Alexander

Stuart Alexander is a visual artist who focuses on photography for his Biennale work.

Entitled [sic], a Latin term meaning: 'the text is to be read as it stands,' is a study of the invasion of privacy. It features eight full-size photographs of people in their homes at night, illuminated by internal lighting, and in many cases shots to hide identities.

'Window frames were an important feature of this project as they obstructed the full view,' explains Stuart.

'The whole point in these images is to highlight that truth is relative based on our judgement, leading to the viewer questioning their own morality in relation to the idea that privacy is freedom from such judgement and scrutiny.

'The possibility of some fake or staged images featuring in the collection highlights both the relativity of truth and also points the viewer to more sinister conclusions.'
