Amy Eastland
Amy Eastland is an illustrator whose work is strongly influenced by artefacts of the past. Amy produces highly original and very distinctive collages.
Amy's submission for the Biennale is, Winston Churchill, the man in his own words, a series of images in which she interprets the words of Winston Churchill to depict his life.
'My images narrate the two pivotal sides to Winston Churchill, his playful and inspirational side coupled with his 'dark dog days' a phrase he coined for his constant battle with depression.
'I am heavily influenced by the history of Britain. It has a sense of romanticism about it; from the architecture, fashion, and sensibilities of people from the past, to the art and design of that time.'
Amy develops collages using existing imagery, particularly old photographs and papers, as well as imagery she herself creates electronically.
