Haley Craw - Mother, Mistaken Outcast

  • St Mary's Rest Garden NG3 1EJ United Kingdom (map)

11-11.20am (recurring at 2pm & 4pm)

A performative encounter with a creature, a wild woman haunting the landscape. She is known as Mary, the wished-for-child, the sea of bitterness, and the rebellion.  She is The Virgin, Magdalene, and my grandmother. Appearing at St. Mary's Rest Garden three times throughout the day, tracing the perimeter, laying with the land, chanting, and growling. Covered in long unruly hair, she is Mary transforming into the witch of the woods.

Haley Craw is a multidisciplinary Canadian artist based in the UK. Using drawing, performance, and sculpture, she morphs together the body, ideology, and landscape. Craw’s work presents the mythology of the Fallen Woman, exploring female sexuality and ideology through both a social context and reflection of personal experience.
